About the role:

The Associate Director, Email Marketing Operations is responsible for defining strategic direction and “shadow” P&L responsibility for email newsletters as well as operations for the email channel for marketing and ad sales, reporting to the Chief Marketing Officer.  It includes audience development, managing digital marketing operations, defining strategic direction for email customer acquisition, retention and engagement and ongoing analysis, budgeting and reporting. This role will work closely with marketing, edit, ad sales and technical teams to drive improved performance. 
This team is 100% located in India with two full time staff as of today, with the potential for growth as need is demonstrated.  The Email Marketing Operations team is responsible for the day-to-day, hands-on ownership and coordination of the company’s email marketing programs including triggered, transactional and legal email, journeys, newsletters, promotions, ad sales, and partnerships. This team also serves as the in-house expert on email list processes, template testing and optimization and campaign performance analysis. You will directly support all consumer marketing groups by acting as the central point of contact for email scheduling and operations.

Your day-day: (aka Responsibilities) 
  • Actively manage a team of two
  • Manage all Salesforce email activities including the scheduling, set-up, QC, deployment and deliverability of all email and newsletters
  • Responsible for setting up and maintaining the Salesforce platform for all brands across the organization. This includes third-party integrations, data connections, and security
  • Own campaign performance reporting and analysis, reporting on key metrics and providing actionable insights based on available data, benchmarks and KPIs
  • Manage email customer database, list hygiene initiatives and extracting strategic insights from database to drive actionable segmentation
  • Set up, monitor and optimize email journeys and automations with static and dynamic content using actionable trigger behaviors to drive engagement
  • Work closely with Salesforce Technical Advisor to optimize delivery and performance as well as proactively address software releases scheduled to prevent performance issues
  • Maximize the use of all Salesforce tools, such as Einstein and any available AI enhancements
  • Manage all aspects of email deliverability, including sender authentication (SPF, DKIM, DMARC), domain and IP reputation, spam rate, and delivery errors
  • Understanding of CAN-SPAM, email regulatory compliance, and CCPA and related privacy laws
  • Understand the organizational business challenges and ensure that email efforts are aligned to meet these objectives
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across the organization, including both technical and non-technical audiences; communicating clearly, concisely, and in a timely fashion
  • Document and maintain ongoing operational processes; analyzing and reporting results to drive further optimization
  • Continue education of the Salesforce platform via Trailhead training, documentation, and release notes
  • Develop a point of view on alternate email service providers, with a detailed evaluation of capabilities

You have: (aka Qualifications)
  • Availability for minimum of 4 US working hours; can be split schedule
  • 7-10+ years of email operations experience using Salesforce Marketing Cloud including Journey Builder, Email Studio, and Intelligence Reports - Salesforce certifications or experience with AMPscript and SQL is preferred
  • Produces deliverables within a diverse, fast-paced environment, responding with flexibility to a constantly changing and evolving environment
  • Understands underlying business challenges and develops Salesforce technology-enabled solutions, designing and developing platform-based applications that meet business needs
  • Partner with, Creative, Marketing, IT, and Operations business units, contributing actively to the planning and execution processes
  • Be the in-house expert in Salesforce Marketing Cloud email marketing strategies and shape how we improve our email marketing efforts
  • Aptitude to thrive a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment
  • Communicate Clearly with Cross-Functional teams
  • An understanding of URL tracking parameters and the ability to troubleshoot issues between Salesforce and Google Analytics
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office including Excel pivot tables; Knowledge of basic HTML/CSS
  • Experience with appropriate measurement methods across online and offline channels including A/B testing
  • A Bachelors degree in Marketing, Business, or related field is optional but preferred
