Location:

TMB (Trusted Media Brands) has offices in New York, Los Angeles, Milwaukee, and Gurgaon. This role will be based out of our Gurgaon office, and you will have the flexibility to work in the office and from home.


About the Role:

Associate Editor, Books will report to Editor, Print and play a key role in shaping the editorial direction of special interest publications and books for Family Handyman and other titles within TMB. Family Handyman provides homeowners with expert buying advice, creative project ideas, and detailed how-to instructions to enhance their homes, yards, and vehicles.

About You:

A creative writer and editor, you have the collaborative spirit necessary to produce and repackage quality, on-brand content for books and special interest publications. You blend confidence and creativity with the ability to be organized yet nimble and open to change. Driven by deadlines with strong time-management skills, you can work through a high volume of stories efficiently, effectively and on time, enabling the team to meet its ambitious production goals.

Your day-to-day:
  • In collaboration with editorial and art teams, contribute to the creative execution of the brands’ books and special interest publications
  • Responsible for overseeing the editorial functions regarding book reprints as needed
  • Employ your creative skills as a writer and editor, writing engaging copy and headlines, and crafting engaging layers for stories that enhance reader service
  • Collaborate with fellow editorial teammates and designers to see the book production through to completion, including editorial tasks such as editing, fact-checking, copyfitting, caption writing, checking photo credits, proofreading
  • Work in close collaboration with editors and designers to maintain brand integrity and voice
  • Use brand-approved sources to ensure that content is accurate and in alignment with our editorial standards
  • Coordinate multiple projects simultaneouslyensuring all project deadlines and goals are met
You have:
  • A bachelor’s degree in English, journalism or related field and familiarity with AP style
  • 3+ years proven writing, editing and proofreading skills
  • Experience with content production tools such as InCopy and a content management system
  • An ability to openly collaborate, verbally communicate and accept constructive feedback with teammates
  • A knack for organizing and managing multiple projects at one time, consistently meeting deadlines and catching all the details
  • An organized, thorough and deadline-oriented approach to content creation
