Location: Gurgaon, India .This position is hybrid and will require attendance in the office at least two days a week.

About the role: 

As the Senior Editor for Reader’s Digest, you’ll use your deep SEO knowledge and sharp editorial eye to edit, update, and publish engaging, on-brand articles and listicles to drive organic traffic and increase visibility of our digital content. With an understanding of digital best practices and knack for storytelling, the Senior Editor will elevate Reader’s Digest content and create brand quality continuity across the site. You will effectively manage and grow a team of staff editors and writers, providing ongoing training and feedback. This position reports to the Senior Manager. 
 

About you: 

An agile editor who thrives on content planning and meeting deadlines, you balance your mastery of SEO with outstanding attention to editorial detail such as weaving in brand voice, using engaging turns of phrase, and proper use of grammar. You enjoy managing a team of people and appreciate the value of giving regular feedback to help others grow. You are organized, eager to collaborate across teams. You understand the larger business goals and execute them with confidence to help Reader’s Digest meet its volume and traffic targets. You’re plugged into the rapidly changing digital industry and apply and test new content strategies.  

Your day-to-day: 

  • You edit SEO-driven articles according to weekly publishing goals, adhering to AP and house style.   

  • You oversee and mentor editors and writers by sharing editing tips and are comfortable providing regular feedback.   

  • You support editorial strategy with a full understanding of editorial integrity, brand voice, shareability and engagement, and knowledge of SEO principles and social networks.   

  • You effectively manage and plan editorial workflows, calendars, and tackle assignments with daily direction from a Sr. Manager. 

You have: 

  • 5+ years of full-time experience writing and editing digital content. 

  • 2+ years of management experience with multiple reports is required. 

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, journalism, communications, or media related field.  

  • Solid knowledge and understanding of the digital landscape, particularly SEO strategy and performance metrics. 

  • Proven knowledge of SEO best practices, a CMS (content management system) such as WordPress, a project database such as Airtable, basic HTML and AP style.  

  • Project management skills, with the ability pivot between tasks, consistently meeting deadlines and catching all the details. 

  • Effective communication skills: comfortable accepting and giving constructive feedback, with a commitment to supporting an evolving, dynamic team.  

  • Understanding of data analytics and how to leverage performance learnings in real-time. 

  • A strong network of seasoned editors and writers for leveraging and onboarding talent. 

  • A passion for today’s American culture including tending books, holiday celebrations, knowledge, shopping news, travel tips, and more.  

  • Experience or interest in working with global teams.
