About the role:
The Senior Editorial Manager, Refresh Team will hire and oversee the editors and senior editors responsible for refreshing evergreen digital content on Reader’s Digest, Taste of Home and Family Handyman. With a deep understanding of search engine optimization and writing for the web best practices, the Senior Editorial Manager understands the importance of creating content that is best-in-class to serve our audiences while also delivering against our lofty content production roles. Working closely with our US-based editorial teams, this role will help develop and refine workflows with the goal of increasing content production velocity while maintaining content quality. This role reports into our Chief Content Officer, Digital, who is based in the United States.
Working Hours: TK shift with the expectation of 2-3 hours overlapping with EST time zones. Shift timing: IST 12 noon to IST 9PM.
About you:
You’re a dynamic leader and content strategist who can deliver E-E-A-T (experience, expertise, authority, and trust) in your sleep. You have extensive experience with SEO tools like Google Keyword Planner, SEMRush, Ahrefs and Yoast SEO, you understand what makes content rank well in Google SERPs and outperform the competition. An editor at heart, you know how to weave brand voice throughout evergreen content to make it relatable and compelling for our American audience. Well-connected and resourceful, you can tap your network of subject matter experts for interviews and insights to bring authority to our content. A seasoned manager, you enjoy sharing your expertise with your team and thrive in an environment in which continued learning and growth are the norm.
Your day-to-day:
Oversee the assigning and publishing of search-optimized refreshed content, working with cross-department stakeholders (art, production) and US-based brand editorial teams to ensure that all deadlines are met.
Hire and manage a team of staff editors, focused on improving overall content quality and optimizing content for organic search.
Ensure that editors receive ongoing feedback so that top-editing checks all the quality boxes—from compelling, immersive writing to EEAT elements.
Manage flow of assignments to both staff editors and third-party vendors.
Monitor editorial pipelines and content production velocity, identifying friction points in workflows and ideating solutions.
Collaborate with US-based editorial counterparts to ensure all content is up to brand standards and follows style guides.
You have:Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, English or Communications, or a related field. Editing experience is preferred.
5-7 years of digital editorial, with an emphasis on SEO content optimization.
At least four years managing high-performance, multi-level editorial teams.
Experience working with international teams; experience working with US-based teams preferred
Agility and confidence in fast-paced working environments with competing priorities
Excellent written and oral communication skills, with decisive and direct style.
Excellent interpersonal skills, highly collaborative and a positive change agent.
Experience with content production and management tools such as WordPress, Skyword, Airtable, Adobe/Google Analytics, SEMRush and understanding of how to use these tools to drive content decisions.
